About

How trends works

trends.xvn.app pulls together public charts and signals from Google, Apple, Deezer and Wikipedia into one fast, free page per country, refreshed throughout the day.

Data sources

Google Trends

Daily trending searches for each country, with approximate search volume and related news. Refreshed about every 20 minutes.

Apple charts

The public iTunes charts per country: top songs (with previews), albums, films (with trailers), TV seasons and free iPhone apps. Refreshed every few hours.

Deezer

The worldwide chart of tracks, artists and albums. These lists are global and look the same in every region.

Wikipedia & Wikidata

The most-read Wikipedia articles in each country, published daily by the Wikimedia Foundation, classified as films, TV, brands or people using Wikidata. Content is CC BY-SA.

Free JSON API

Every region has a JSON feed with the same data this site shows. No key is needed and responses are cached for five minutes.

Try /api/us.json or /api/gb.json. Please credit Google Trends, Apple, Deezer and Wikimedia where you use their data, and keep requests to a sensible rate.

Frequently asked questions

What is trends.xvn.app?

A free, live dashboard of what people are into right now: the searches rising fastest on Google, the most popular songs and albums, the films and TV shows people are watching and reading about, and the brands and apps getting attention. There is no sign-up and nothing to install.

Where does the trend data come from?

Rising searches come from Google Trends. Song, album, film, TV and app charts come from Apple's public iTunes charts for each country, and the global music charts come from Deezer. Films, TV, brands and people "in the spotlight" are based on Wikipedia pageviews by country, classified using Wikidata.

How often are the trends updated?

Rising searches refresh about every 20 minutes. Music, film and app charts refresh every few hours. Wikipedia figures are published once a day, usually one to two days behind, so those lists show the latest full day available.

What do the arrows and the "×" numbers mean?

An arrow such as ▲3 shows how many places an item has climbed since roughly a day earlier, and "New" means it has just entered the chart. A figure like ×4.2 means the item got 4.2 times as many Wikipedia reads on the latest day as it usually did over the previous week. The small line next to it shows 14 days of daily reads.

Can I see trends for my country?

Yes. The site picks your country automatically when it can, and you can switch between 17 regions using the flag button at the top of the page, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, India, Germany, France, Spain, Brazil and Japan.

Is it really free? Do you track me?

It is completely free. There are no accounts, no cookies and no analytics or advertising trackers. Your theme choice is saved only in your own browser. Artwork and previews load directly from Apple, Deezer, Google and Wikimedia.

Why is a search trending that I have never heard of?

Google Trends lists searches that are spiking compared with their normal level, not the most-searched terms overall. A local sports result or a breaking story can jump into the list quickly and drop out again within hours. Recent ones stay visible under "Earlier today".

How are trending brands picked?

Every day we take the roughly 1,000 most-read Wikipedia articles in your country and keep the ones Wikidata classifies as companies, brands, products, websites, apps, games or media outlets. They are ranked by reads. The App Store list ranks the most-downloaded free apps.

Can I play full songs or films?

You can play the official 30-second song previews and film trailers right on the page. For the full song or film, follow the link through to Apple Music, Apple TV or Deezer.

Can I use this data in my own project?

Yes. Each region has a free JSON feed at /api/{region}.json, for example /api/us.json. Please credit the original sources (Google Trends, Apple, Deezer and Wikimedia) and respect their terms, and keep requests to a sensible rate. The feed is cached for five minutes.
